TOPIC: ANTIETAM 6mm |
Well, I guess all things come to a happy end sometimes. I collected Baccus 95% of the lot and all the packs... (and some Rapier)... Greg (Robert Jackson... painted nearly all of the Union and Turbil Miniatures some of the Confederates)... nothing would have been posible without Daniel Hodgson (REVEILLE) who did the scenery (Buildings (Leven & Baccus), Tress (Baccus), and fences and what not... Will report on it but have a few pics of the building up of the SOLO project. First one is the "empty" table. The second one shows terrain "finished". I only did ANTIETAM CREEK. All the rest is usable on other wargames and even different periods. Hope you enjoy!

The UNION deployment is finished... This does not mean those are the definitive attack formations... perish the though!... the 6 Corps are in place but dawn is still to come. Better clarify that. It is a rewarding task but hard work neverthrless. Hope someone enjoys! I was right to go 6mm (at last the Armies look like Armies) and the maps of that excellent book A BATTLEFIELD ATLAS OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR BY CRAIG L. SYMONDS are a great help... plus the Ospreys and Stepnen W. Sears book ( Landscape turned red The Battle of Antietam). It was Lee's first gamble North and George B. Mc Clellans's lost opportunity...

A general view from the Union side... from left to right the Six Corps of Burnside, Porter, Sumner, Franklin, Mansfield and Hooker (historically later Meade). |
The 6mm figures really do make it look like an army. A little goes a long way |
Hooker's First Corps. On the Union extreme right! (McClellan's Right Hook!) |
The complete final setup! |
https://www.mytoysoldiersandme.com I am afraid you will have to go to my webpage to see more details... pics are easier to put up and modify etc. You get the idea I guess. Post of today is called Antietam/Sharpsburg 1862 (6mm) My Own for once! (I) and will be followed with more entries as the game develops. Cheers |
Had a look at the site. Very impressive. I actually went one step further and am developing 3mm armies to fight the Western theatre battles from AoF. After, I can repaint the flags and do the Eastern theatre. A little goes a long way |
Thank you dourpuritan! Wish you luck with your projects! |
Yankees and Rebs close ups (to a point) for MY (and yours maybe) pleasure. |
