THE WURZBURG FORCES DURING THE WAR OF THE SPANISH SUCCESSION

Robert Sulentic

GENERAL
The Prince-Bishop Wurzburg contributed troops both to the Franconian Circle and also to the Imperial service at large. These latter troops were "House" regiments in service to Wurzburg. The infantry regiments are noted in 1711 as being of 6 companies of fusiliers and 1 of grenadiers. A separate Grenadier battalion was raised in 1708. Officers and men wore the same uniform. Equipment was buff, with black cartridge boxes.
A Dragoon regiment was raised for Imperial service. An artillery detachment of 4 field pieces and 4 mortars was present at the siege of Landau.
