FORCES OF THE SWABIAN CIRCLE DURING THE WAR OF THE SPANISH SUCCESSION Robert Sulentic The Swabian Circle also furnished significant troops to the Imperial Armies. The circle provided 5 regiments of around 1800 men each, consisting of 12 fusilier companies, and 1 grenadier company. This implies either two large battalions of 850 men, or three battalions of around 550 men each. The grenadier companies were drafted off into a composite grenadier battalion by 1706. The circle also provided two cavalry regiments and a dragoon regiment, each of 8 companies totalling around 570 men. Probably in 4 squadrons. Each Regiment also had assigned to it 3 regimental cannon of around 3-pound weight. 25 six pound cannons were later procured as field artillery. (four batteries?) The Infantry THE CAVALRY
