TOPIC: Joy of Six 2021 is cancelled |
Administrator Posts: 895 peter 23rd Mar 2021 08:14:25 Sad news folks. After long discussions with the events team at Sheffield Hallam University we have made the very painful decision to cancel the Joy of Six for a second year. We are as gutted as any of you reading this will be, but in the end we didn't have choice. For a start, the main room used for the show is now a Covid testing centre for students and is likely to remain so for the rest of the year, and there is no alternative suitable space. We also had to consider that the proposed lifting of the UK lockdown is just two weeks prior to the date of the show. A small glitch in that timetable would see the event in trouble. There were a number of other factors at play, including safety concerns for University staff, so all in all, the decision was inevitable. Anyone who booked a trade stand or a game space will once again have their booking honoured for the 2022 show. We are planning a virtual Joy of Six and are working in several ideas. We know that many of you will have games setups that are completed in anticipation of the show. If so, we are looking to put these online on the day, so please do contact us so that we can make arrangements. We will still try to bring some Joy on July 4th! I have plans. I am dangerous when I have plans... |

Dear Peter. Sad news, but thanks for doing the right thing. I'm guessing 2022 JOS will need a LOT of space - a lot of us will have bought & painted loads of new troops. Perhaps you'll need an aircraft hangar or two? Someone, on another forum, wondered if it would be a 2 day event - does that make more or less sense than 1 day? In the mean time, stsay safe and carry on casting! Cheers! Colin the Wargamer |
Standard User Posts: 44 rbatch 29th Mar 2021 05:49:20 Just as a left field suggestion. Given that its a virtual event, if its going to be live maybe the date could be shifted the 3rd? This would allow those of us ourt this end of the dateline to check in without having to worry about having to go to work on Monday morning without having had much sleep. |
