This new book continues the superb standard set by the authors’

regimental histories, uniform details and those all-important flags. There
are over 65 colour illustrations of flags in this section alone.
The next section gives the most comprehensive description availiable
in English of the Russian army of the period. The research was done in
collaboration with Russian correspondents and includes details of the
Russian auxiliary corp serving with the Saxon army from 1704 to 1706 and
the Russian army in Finland. The text is well supported by a large number
of full colour illustration of uniforms and flags, including a large number
of Steltsi colours.
The next subject is the Saxon army Augustus the Strong. Once again all
the information required by the wargamer and uniformoligist is presented
in a clear an accessible format supported by superb full colour illustrations.
The book is completed by a study of the Prussian and Hanoverian forces
that participated in the campaigns of the final years war.
Packed full of detailed information, beautifully illustrated and providing
information that has not been available in English prior to publication,
this is a fitting companion volume to the work on the Swedish army, and
is a ‘must have’ for all those interested in the Great Northern
War.
