EARLY MEDIAEVAL
The 200 years or so following the first millenium
were turbulent times with wars being fought ceaselessly acrossEurope.
Starting with the dramatic events of 1066, this was the period of
the ascendancy of the Western European armoured cavalryman typified
by the Norman. Their audacious land-grabs in England, Italy and
eventually in the Holy Land cemented their place in history. This
was also the start of the long decline of still-powerful Byzantine
Empire, the rise of the Turks as a great nation and of course the
period of the Crusades.
The Baccus ranges will eventually extend to cover
all these areas, but as with all things we shall have to start somewhere
and that is with the armies of 1066.
