EARLY 18TH CENTURY

The early years of the Eighteenth Century were dominated by two great European Conflicts. In the fields of Flanders and Germany, the armies of Louis XIV were engaged against those of the Maritime Powers and the Imperialists over the claim of the French Bourbons to the Spanish Throne. Meanwhile the northern countries of Europe were caught up in the great struggle between Russian and Sweden as to who should be the dominant Baltic power.

The Baccus ranges enable any army from the period to be fielded. Most countries followed broadly similar dress and uniform codes, although for those who something a little different, the Poles are a spectacular alternative. The standard SS ranges will provide figures suitable for Saxons, Danes and Prussians. This period is a personal favourite of mine, as it has colourful but easy to paint uniforms, lots of different nationalities and some very strong historical characters.

And if you need something more to tempt you there are the Polemos rules for the period. The Baccus army packs are designed specifically for the rules giving you a convenient and cost-effective method of collection your armies
