Napoleonic Companion: Missing some artillery calibers GenWAnders 14th Sep 2018 04:07:42 In the Army Generator section of the Companion there appears to be some missing information. When rolling for armies the results simply say either "foot artillery" or "horse artillery". The calibers of the guns are missing. My intentions were to research what calibers the armies at that time used, but I was wondering if I missed an explanation or errata. I'm specifically looking for information on the Austria 1809 and Warsaw 1813 armies. |
Napoleonic Companion: Missing some artillery calibers Whirlwind 14th Sep 2018 09:28:42 I think that the army entry at the back gives some information for the Austrians, as does the Raszyn scenario. The Polish have only the Raszyn scenario to go on within the Companion itself, which uses 8lbers for the Foot Artiilery. In lieu of anything else, use 4lbers for the Horse I suppose. |
Napoleonic Companion: Missing some artillery calibers GenWAnders 14th Sep 2018 04:11:34 In regards to the Polish I did find some details. Out of the 14 foot batteries, 2 were heavy with 12-pdrs and the remainder were 6-pounders. Their horse artillery reportedly were also 6-pdrs. If there's no official ruling, then I'd probably have foot artillery be 12-pdrs on a 6, otherwise they're all 6-pdrs. As for Austria, they had a roughly 1:4:1 ratio of 3-pdr, 6-pdr, and 12-pdr foot batteries around 1808/09, though the 12-pdrs were comparable to other nations' 8-pdrs. So for Austrians they get 3-pdrs on a 1, 8pdrs on a 6, and 6-pdrs otherwise. |
