Hi all and Thanks for looking,

I am currently using the Baccus 6mm ACW figures to build both armies for the ACW.  I started planning/painting a year ago, and with delays due to other projects and real life, I am finaly getting to the point I can play.  I started painting the figures when I was invited to a club that was forming. It was going to play Brigade F&F with three figures to a base per the rules.  Alas, the club never got off the ground I was never told a reason.

I have two rule sets I really like and decided to base my figures so I could do both without needing to change anything and to keep in concept with both for basing.  I will be playing Brigade F&F and Alter of Freedom.

SO for the basing I went to 20mm x 20mm square basing for everything except for Exceptional Brigade, Division, Corps and Army commanders which will be on round bases

Brigade Fire and Fury calls for 3/4" x 1/2" basing for 6mm so I went with the 20x20.  The reason for the 20mm deep base is I double line the bases with infantry (doubling the number of troops), but keep the correct frontage.  To me it just looks better.

I have currently just finished painting the last of the figures I have. (Will need to order more once I finish the bases)  I currently have 50+ bases per side.  I am working towards the OOB for 1st Bull Run and have Tyler's Division based and Started on Hunter's Division.  For the Confederates I have the entire Army of the Shenandoah complete and am working on Bonham's Brigade of The Army of the Potomac.

The way I am setting up my Brigades is with physically visable Regiments. (example:  For Sherman's Brigade it has 15 stands broken down as a Brigade commander (on horse he does not count towards stand count) and 4 regiments of a Flag stand and 3-4 infantry stands).  Once I finish with the bases of a Brigade I will post a picture.

As far as Alter of Freedom, I can use 3 of my stands on a movement tray to represent a brigade for this set of rules.  The tray will contain 18 figures instead of the 24 most people use but will still give a good representation.

One final note I cut the Baccus strips into individual figures and base them so that I have a staggered line effect.

The reason the original post didn't contain pictures was that I was trying to completely finish some units prior to posting pictures. I completed Schenck's Brigade of Tyler's Division today, unfortunately I have no idea on how to upload pictures.

Not easy I guess but there are Posts in the archives of this Forum that explain how to.

A pic is worth a thousand words.

I would also be very interested to see this basing setup. Sounds versatile!

Here are photo's of the Brigade I have done and the Union DIvision I am currently working.  I have the entire Army of Shenandoah (4 Brigades for 1st Bull Run) based but not completed as well.

Hope you can see the photos.

I've completed Keyes Brigade of Tyler's Division and posting how I use the same stands for Alter of Freedom. WIth 3-5 Regimental command stands I can easily pull 3-4 Brigades for Alter of Freedom from 1 Brigade for Brigade Fire and Fury.

Looking good! I just finished up an ACW project myself. Basing on 60x60mm bases for the infantry and cavalry regiments because 1) I like the "diorama" aspect of basing, and 2) I was only making them for Alter of Freedom. Have about 30 infantry bases and 12 cavalry bases per side (and a boatload of cannon).

AoF is a fantastic rule set BTW. So many great ideas in there.

Thank you for the pictures - looks very nice! Have you taken them to the table yet, and how did it go?
