TOPIC: Basing for GdD |
Standard User Posts: 2 GuyOni 8th Dec 2021 04:17:18 I have bought and been working on what I guess is a "starter set" for the French refered to as French Army Pack 1806-1812. The contents stated that each unit of infantry includes 4 line, 1 command and 1 elite strip. My question: is there a "traditional" way to mount these strips on a standard 60x30mm base? Where on the base should each strip go? ...or should some be split up and rearranged in a particular fashion (elites to the right or some such). Any help (or pics) would be a great help. How you place the figures or the number of figures on a base is your option. The vast majority use one of two styles. The basic one is as you can see in the catalogue pictures section generally 2 rows of 12 figures in the center of the base. The other is the same except you add some skirmishers in the front and push back the 2 rows of 12 figures to the back of the base. I use the rules "Ruse de Guerre" which puts skirmishers and all light infantry on their own bases of 8 figures, all in skirmish formation. So all my line battalions are simply 2 rows of 12 figures in the centre of the base. In this formation you split the elite strip into 2 sections of 2 figures. One set of 2 figures are painted as grenadiers and the other 2 as voltiguers. On the base your front line contains the command stand in the centre and a line stand on each side. In the back row on the right you place the grenadiers, on the left the voltiguers. In the centre you place the 2 remaining line stands. If not clear, just ask! Best regards, Glenn |
