TOPIC: GNW Russians |
Standard User Posts: 2 Oldun 18th Jul 2021 06:47:02 I am just starting a GNW Russian army and am looking for suggestions as to a suitable shade of green for their coats. Also any suggestions on the best painting techniques for this scale - black undercoat and drybrush over, solid colour and highlight or solid colour and wash would be a great help as it has been over 25 years since I last looked at this size of figure. Many thanks. |
I've used Vallejos 'Uniform green' for my Russians, and at times mixed in a little bit of yellow or white to highlight or vary the colour a bit. Personally I didn't find the drybrushing technique to be a very useful one for miniatures this small, I prefer to do little lines and dots of relatively bright colour, and leaving a black undercoat in less pronounced places like between an arm and the body, or a horses underside, to create and illusion of a shadow. Horses I give a brown, red, or black wash to, but I've found that uniforms get a bit too muddled by inks and washes, though I know many others wash infantry as well. |
