Hi, I have been having vague thoughts recently of doing something slightly different with basing and I need the advice of more expert modellers to see how plausible it is.  For my C17 armies, currently painted and beflagged as various ECW units, would it be possible to use my existing troops on a 60mm x 30mm base but have some kind of small slot or magnet to allow me to swap out the command stands so I could use Imperial/Protestant League/Swedish/whatever flags with my existing bases of ECW foot?  Any ideas about the best way I might do this?

My immediate thoughts would be 'waaaayyyy too fiddly'...

Could be done with magnetic sheet, steel bases and cunning cut-outs, but I refer the honourable gentleman to my opening statement.

Others may disagree...

I think my solution would be to mount the flags on pins and drill a hole in the standard bearer. Flags can then be swapped at will.

I therve the marthter.
