Yes it has fewer horses but it's cheaper. Oddly enough I often have lunch with no bread. All kidding aside if they do nothing else period correct limbers certainly look outstanding on a table. They make an army look powerfull and give it a certain swagger. |

I’ve been happy with the results. I like the idea of sabot bases, but would worry 30x15mm is a little small as I’m tragically clumsy.

These were well drilled and complex organisations. In addition to the limbers and teams you had ammunition supplies in various wagons and caissons. There would be a forward supply station set up near to the battery for immediate use, which would be constantly replenished and replaced from a larger park to the rear of that. There was constant movement within this area. Add in the teams and personnel attached to the supply vehicles and you have a huge amount of men, horses and materiel. The deployed 60x30 limber represents this very nicely indeed. I have plans. I am dangerous when I have plans... |

After reading your post I decided to poke aroudnt the net a bit more. I found this link on TMP regarding artillery supply logistics http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=244303 There is reference to some books regarding the artillery supply topic in the discussion, just wondering if anybody has an opinion about which of the books are worthwhile getting a copy of; Dawson, Dawson and Summerfield (2007) Napoleonic Artillery, Crowood Press. K. Kiley, Artillery of the Napoleonic Wars Borodino by Mikaberidze. (I'd like to know if anybody has read this and what they think of it) |
