TOPIC: The Zulu War in 6mm |
It was a 6 months "conflict"... marked by a disaster... the rest was "policing the Empire" and sheer fortitude and confidence,,, a bit of rascality too if you ask me... but better don't. A pic of Ulundi. Not even a wargame... just a pic. and. another pic (potential wargame) of a mission and outpost who needs a bridge... Rorke's Drift (Leven Miniatures painted by Daniel Hodgson) and minis by Baccus painted by Robert Jackson ("GREG"). Isandlwana needs more preparation and eventually will be added to this Post... keep watching for it!... Cheers |
Isandlwana pic nº 1... Mr. Vereker and the Sikali Horse discover the Zulu Impi. Figures Some Rapier converted Confederates and a Baccus one! Isandlwana pic Nº 2 desultory skirmishing (shots to be heard hopefully in camp). Same as above. Isandlwana pic Nº 3 Durnford's "Cavalry" (mounted infantry would be much more acurate) goes to the right flank. Those are all Baccus. |
Isandlwana pic nº 4 Pullaine deploys his 5 + 1 Co's (too far from the camp IMHO. Isandlwana pic nº 5 frontal view from the Zulu Chest approach. Isandlwana pic nº 6 Durnford starts skirmishing with the left horn of the impi and retires by units under pressure. Isandlwana pic nº 7 The backward movement continues and eventually will uncover the right flank of the Infantry line. (Summing up) |
Isandlwana pic nº 8 When the pressure makes the line break some rallying squares are hurriedly formed (if at all) Pic nº 9 ... Younghusband's Co last charge! (Col. Snooke says so)... but I do not buy his line of one man each 5 yards... as the original deployment. |
Pic nº 10 "Saving the colour"... aka Melville & Coghill ride... Pic nº 11 The last stand in the camp. "How Men can die better" book mix with ZULU DAWN film. Quite epic if you ask me... |
That looks superb. A little goes a long way |
Thank you dourpuritan!... just another example of heterodox basing... impossible to use 60x30 brigade stands if you know what I mean... (of course you do!). Cheers |
