The Great War offering for Joy of Six this year will be a reproduction of the Battle of Gnila Lipa. Er, where you ask? It was a major battle between the Russians and Austro-Hungarians during the first round of heavy fighting in August 1914. The Gnila Lipa is a river in what was Galicia, now Western Ukraine. First up are the Austro-Hungarians. Some samples of figures from the new Baccus range:

Russians next.

They look very nice. Which rules are you using for the battle?

We are using Great War Spearhead 2 and the 'Summer Harvest' supplement. The battle is set out in two scenarios in the supplement, which we are joining together to form one long table on the day.

Excellent work. I really like the way you have rendered the cavalry as 1914 hussars.

A little goes a long way

Thank you. The photos were taken with the macro lens but the exposure time was too long. I am going to try again when I photograph the newly painted examples of Russian figures as well.

Please plenty of photos after it's all done and dusted please Robert! I'm yet to play a game of GWSH but my mate and myself are planning on doing a Tannenberg demonstration game(s) at our club in Australia later in the year so this very much interests me. :)

If you want to see my current projects I have photos up on my blog (linked below). Focus on 6mm Napoleonics and WW1.

Some more photos, including a few repeats but from a different angle (and better exposure time):

My favourite is the pilot....
