Are there any suitable proxies for Byzantines - thematic and tagmatic cavalry, skutatoi, Varangians, etc?

Mmmmmh, I think we'll have in reasonable time a dedicated range, there's another topic in which several people have asked for byzantines.

I didn't know that Southern Italians were called Norman  :)

Through the travail of the ages Midst the pomp and toil of war Have I fought and strove and perished Countless times upon this star.
So as through a glass and darkly The age long strife I see Where I fought in many guises, Many names but always me.
So forever in the future Shall I battle as of yore, Dying to be born a fighter But to die again once more.

Surely, not all of them would be called Norman. That would be too confusing.

Wasn`t Tancred DeHautvilles family in Southern Italy, Therefore being Normans in S Italy. Was it Robert DeHautville?

Possibly wrong as was right off the top of my head.
