TOPIC: Waterloo At Recon 2016, Orlando - FL, making the table |
Standard User Posts: 13 Rene 17th Oct 2017 08:50:24 Greetings 6's! I know this happened over a year ago, but I didn't want withhold it from you! So some 2 years ago I made a Waterloo table to be played witn the CnC Napoleonics system, much like I did that same year for the battle of Dresden - See my postings elsewhere.
So let's see how it was done! I used a map of the battle with contours to design my hex-board Then I used this map to make contours with the poster boards. Then I added my pushpins to create the hex grid for CnC Napoleonics Add filler to smooth the contours and make sure that structures fit Paint it some earth brown Tape in the roads Create different shades of green, so we can use to identify what is up and down hill! Next level medium-green and some light-green tops... Remove the tape Fill the roads. I noted the low areas around Hougoumont were nto clear enough so gave that some extra dark accent. Add buldings and trees And test the troop deployment! Check the Gallery area for images of the Convention (Recon 2016) and actual game play!

Standard User Posts: 13 Rene 23rd Oct 2017 10:37:53 Approximately 5000m (3miles) EW by 3000m (2miles) NS. This makes every hex some 200-250 yards accross.
